Born in the UK to parents of Antiguan decent, Rev Katei Kirby is the former CEO of ACEA (African and Caribbean Evangelical Alliance), an umbrella organisation that was set up in 1984 to unite the voice and contribution of the Black Christian community in the UK. Katei was appointed in 2005 and until March 2009, developed and implemented ACEA's strategic agenda for community involvement and political engagement through intentional partnership.
Katei is an ordained minister and trustee with The Wesleyan Holiness Church in the UK, and also serves as an executive officer on its international board. She is a patron of Tearfund and is on the board of Premier Christian Media Group. Katei trained for Christian ministry while pursuing a career in customer service in the private sector, and marketing communications in local government. She was ordained in 1999, and awarded an MA in Strategic Marketing in 2003 by London Metropolitan University where she was a visiting lecturer from 2004.
Katei’s passion is to see -and be part of -the kind of community cohesion that Jesus prayed for in John 17. She welcomes opportunities for engagement and inclusion that bring her Christian faith and her passion for effective communication together.
